DON’T LOOK DOWN ON YOURSELF, KEEP YOUR HEAD-UP
31 DON’T LOOK DOWN ON
YOURSELF
In 1920s, Ethiopia recorded a
historic or one of the most memorable eras during the reign of warlord, Haile
Selassie (Ras. Tafari). Selassie, who felt there was none like him (bold and
fearless), until Balcha Dejazmach dared him (selassie). The rest contenders
like cowards bowed and surrendered to Haile Selassie – but there was one man
who saw it as unreasonable to give in to threats, resulting from attempted
murder by sellassie in 1927 to be specific.
Despite outnumbered times invitation amidst
cooked-up tricks to strip him (Balcha) off his title, in order to dethroned
him. In all, Selassie failed to carry out his stratagems and gimmicks on him.
Indeed, selassie and Balcha were much
at loggerheads during the late 1920s than any other times in history; but
because Balcha was very wise; he refused to be silenced or pushed aside like
the other contenders that Selassie used as scapegoats.
According to Napoleon Bonaparte; “To
have ultimate victory, one must be ruthless”; and Sir Walter Raleigh said, “Wise-men (should be) like coffers with
double bottoms, which when others look into, being opened, they see not all
that they hold”. Don’t sell your hopes; take courage as you look up!
Hop up! Dust yourself and move to the next level like Balcha did.
Courage, according to Billy Graham…is “when
a brave man takes a stand, then, the spine of others are often stiffened”. Don’t be scared to stand your ground;
it might not be easy, but for sure victory shall surface when you refuse to
quit or give up. Besides, God is more interested in your end than the beginning;
indeed, braveness tears down the walls of fear and builds up the house of
greatness.
