Corruption was conceived in Africa

By Africans, it was borne

Into Nigeria, growing rapidly

Without wings, flying so highly

Rapacity on its existence is matchless

From one generation to another

It’s passed like a legacy

Eating so deeply into Nigerians hearts

Like canker worms or chisel into a wood core cuts

Building hopes in mischief

Compounding penury and misery all together

Why can't we save the future our generations?

Why are you not whom you are?

Why are you where you are?

You are so self-centred

Yesterday, new laws you enforced

Today, all by your children broken

Where are we, and why are we here?

Democracy with guns wobble

Leadership in chaos falling apart

Patriotism is meandering as ill wind

Snappily, like a snake it rattles

Hunger sweeping it disastrously

Poverty and disease intertwined

Wayo and wuruwuru interlocked

Where are we, and what are we doing?
