Westerhof, Bonfrere Not Qualified To Coach Super Eagles – NFF
The Nigeria Football Federation has said that former coaches of Super Eagles, Jo Bonfere and Clemens Westerhof do not fit into the calibre of coaches the federation is looking to get for the national team.
The two Dutch coaches have been mentioned among those who applied to coach the Super Eagles following the resignation of Sunday Oliseh as Super Eagles coach some months back.
Westerhof led the Eagles to win the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia in 1994 while Bonfere who assisted him later took charge and led the Under-23 team to win gold at the Atalanta Olympic Games in 1996.

“They do not fit into what we are looking for in a coach for the Super Eagles,” an influential executive committee member of the NFF told Completesportsnigeria.com. “In their days I think they ranked among the best in the world but football has grown and we don’t need them now because we don’t believe they can give us what we want.
“We have several interested coaches both foreign and local but we have not decided on when to go for one because we don’t have money now and because we are yet to get sponsors or partners who will pick the bill for the coach of Super Eagles. But I can assure you that both Westerhof and Bonfere will not be considered when we are set because they do not fit our plans.”
