How foolish and heartless could a nation claim?

Since you got married to democracy

Who had been standing fiercely on the pedestal of fighting

Threats from ex-military wife are more daunting

Day after day, in fears we dwell

Boko Haram had threatened the lives of compatriots

Many are gone, so many are yet to go

My dear husband, Nigeria!

Could you please tell me!!

Why do you befriend dictators?

Why do you liaise with fraudsters?

A lawbreaker you’ve remarried

Thought, you said you divorced her long-ago

Yet, I saw you look over her pictures

Again, again and again

With warm smiles all over your face

Last night I saw you with her brothers

The tyrants and the suicide bomber

Yesterday you drank and ate in her house

Ate bribery and drank corruption

Yet said they were of abeyance

Wish you could prove to us?

What love could be?

And how to show and spread patriotism
