ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE
Corruption had
forced its ugly face into Nigeria
Despite
lip-service fight against it by the government
Its presence had
become a cynosure in the country
In politics, it
takes the lead with gimmicks
In the
judiciary, it had bent the law in its favour
In the schools,
it had encouraged lassitude and mediocrity
In the church,
its charm is not resistible
Yet, Nigerians
are robbing Nigerians to pay Nigerians
O! What a
shameful day
Corruption had
resurfaced
Intertwined
Nigerians firmly like Siamese twins
By greed, a land
is embezzled
A surplus
infrastructure in deficit
Due process had
become a national Anthem
Law breaking had
become the order of the day
Nigeria!
O! What a bad
child from good parents
A nation
blessed, yet cursed
A land
sanitized, yet guilty
A land cleansed, yet soiled
A name so
melodious, yet disgusting
A home so
hospitable, yet non-habitable
