LAND OF CONFUSION
Nigeria!
What a mess!!
A nation under
poverty siege
To the wheel of
disease, entangled
In abundance of
freedom, encased in shackles
Before men of
noble, riff-raff enthroned
Believing after
democratic rebirth, all is well
Unto a land,
jeopardy takes precedence
Among the worst,
our country was enlisted
Every day, we
sing songs of breakthroughs
Africans negated
the nexus between the law and its citizenry
Nigerians nibble
of prosperity amass
Egunje wouldn’t
let them see the future
Forgetting there
were umpires
Yet, onlookers
watched from the global windows
Democracy and
the rule of law
Were meant to be
the best form of government
Now, we are
amazed in wonderment
It has become
the reverse of the former.
Can’t we be for
once reasonable as Africans?
Every day,
Africans are enslaved by Africans
Like a candle
wax melted, all but away
Like a mortar
our hearts are pounding
Africans are
digging graves to bury Africans
In silence,
Nigerians are weeping
Sobbing in their
eyes every now and then, yet no tears
Every doorway’s smeared with fears
