EFCC opposes PDP chieftain's request to travel abroad
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has opposed a request by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Olisa Metuh to travel abroad for treatment.
Metuh's lawyer, Mr Onyeachi Ikpeazu (SAN), told the court that his
client’s health is deteriorating, adding that he needed urgent
treatment.
Metuh sought an order from the court to mandate the EFCC to give him his passport so he can travel to the United Kingdom.
The PDP chieftain’s lawyer, Mr Onyeachi Ikpeazu (SAN), told the court that his client’s health is deteriorating, adding that he needed urgent treatment.
Counsel to the EFCC, Mr Sylvanus Tahir, however opposed the application, urging the court to throw it out.
Tahir argued that Metuh has not shown any document that will lead to the granting of his request.
He also claimed that the medical documents presented by Mutuh’s legal team was allegedly not certified.
Tahir also said that there are hospitals in Nigeria that could treat Metuh’s ailment very well.
Olisa Metuh is standing trial for allegedly receiving N400m from former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The money is said to be part of the $15b meant for purchasing arms for the military.
