I am a lover

I am a good singer of love

Not of Iran and Iraq wars

Not a singer of troubles nor of insurgency

Neither do I sing of a deadly sickness

But I am born to sing songs of heart mending

I am neither a pastor nor a heavenly bishop

And I do not sing of tongues or of healing

I haven’t come to preach prosperity

Neither have I come to discuss salvation nor of miracles

I am neither a pope nor a cardinal

Whose daily messages are catechism and confessions

Or remission and faithful benediction

Yes! Oh yes

I am neither a banker nor an accountant

Who speaks of cheques and lodgEment
