BANKRUPT LOVE
The bank of love had become bankrupt
My heart was held hostage in manacle
Like a
prisoner, my blood ran riots
The impulse escalated in pounce
As if I was sentenced to death by crucifixion
Having delayed justice with denial
It crippled fairness with lying lips
Painting its walls with fake colours
The faces are mutilating as odours
My patience had been stolen
Like a bank hijacked by bandits
Or like suspects being arrested by naija police
I couldn’t bail myself quickly
Because I was deficient of companionship
And luck angrily ran against me
Hence, I became allergic to romance
My immunity had traveled untraceably
So swiftly, like a jet plane losing its altitude
Like a red wine, I need you to sip
So I can without stress go for a sleep
Your love had given my heart a hard bite
All with venom I couldn’t resist
Now, it’s taking me for it so cheaply
give me power to fight so i can defeat
