Over 100 militants invade Government House in Akwa Ibom


Report said the militants demanded to Governor Udom Emmanuel by all means, saying they must be included in the amnesty programme.

Over 100 militants were said to have invaded the Akwa Ibomstate Government House in Uyo on Tuesday, August 16.

Details are still sketchy, but Daily Trust reports that the militants stormed the seat of government in a violent protest, throwing the state capital into pandemonium.
Report said the militants demanded to see Governor Udom Emmanuel by all means, saying they must be included in the amnesty programme.
As at the time of filing this report, Policemen were said to be trying to disperse the militants with tear gas and firearms.
