Shoprite Oyo State Government seals off supermarket's outlet in Ibadan

According to reports, the management of the shopping mall failed to provide evidence of tax payment after three hours of discussion.

The Ibadan outlet of nationwide supermarket, Shoprite, has been temporarily closed by the Oyo State Inland Revenue Service, over tax evasion allegation.

According to the Nigerian Tribune News, there was a long stand-off between officials of the shopping mall and the state revenue service, over a possible negotiation that will ensure that business continues.
This however, did not yield the anticipated result for the shopping mall staff, as the government agency would not bulge, eventually leading to the closure of the supermarket.
Olugbenga Adebayo, who is the Administrative Manager at the branch, reportedly led the plea which lasted for almost three hours.
This proved to be of no use as the management failed to provide proof of their tax payment, Nigerian Tribune reports.
