Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign on Tuesday dismissed a report from House Republicans investigating the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya as full of "discredited conspiracy theories."
"The Republicans on the House Benghazi Committee are finishing their work in the same, partisan way that we've seen from them since the beginning," Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon said in a statement chiding Republicans for not releasing the report with Democrats.
"In refusing to issue its report on a bipartisan basis, the Committee is breaking from the precedent set by other Congressional inquiries into the Benghazi attacks. And in leaking out select portions from their report in the middle of the night, without even allowing some of the committee's own members to see it, the Republican members are clearly seeking to avoid any fact-checking of their discredited, conspiracy theories," Fallon added.
Media outlets such as CNN and Fox News published reports after viewing portions of the final report ahead of its release Tuesday morning.
The GOP-led House Select Committee on Benghazi released its some 800-page report on Tuesday, offering new details into the Obama administration's response in the wake of the attack, including details from a White House meeting convened hours into the attack.
The five Democrats on the committee released a prebuttal report on Monday seeking to exonerate Clinton. Republicans have defended their two-year investigation into the attacks, which Democrats have dismissed as a partisan move to hurt Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee.
Clinton's campaign reiterated that position on Tuesday, saying in its statement, "After more than two years and more than $7 million in taxpayer funds, the Committee report has not found anything to contradict the conclusions of the multiple, earlier investigations."
"This report just confirms what Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and even one of Trey Gowdy's own former staffers admitted months ago: this Committee's chief goal is to politicize the deaths of four brave Americans in order to try to attack the Obama administration and hurt Hillary Clinton's campaign," Fallon said.
